How safe is MangoErrands?

Trust and safety are two of our top goals. Trust is critical, especially when you’re hundreds or thousands of miles away from where you’re doing a transaction.

So we’ve put in a number of safeguards to protect your information and reassure you that your transactions are safe. Our goal is to make getting stuff done in Jamaica, one less thing to worry about.

What we ask of you is that you remain on the platform throughout your entire transaction, where a record of your interactions exist, and where there is reliability, and recourse if there are any problems.

Our registration

Diaspora Errands LLC (MangoErrands) is registered with the State of New York, USA as well as with the Companies Office of Jamaica, in Kingston, Jamaica.

Are vendors registered?

Product and service providers on our site are required to be registered with the Companies Office of Jamaica, or a relevant governing body.

What payment methods are accepted?

All payments must be made by way of credit card or via PayPal. Our site is Paypal compliant. No cash or offline payments are permitted.

After paying what do I do?

Send your receiver in Jamaica to the store or office where you made the payment. Give them the order number and unique code on your receipt that was emailed to you when you completed the transaction. Your receiver will take this and a government issued identification to get the products or services from the vendor.

Why is the unique code important?

You want to be sure that the person you designate as Recipient, and not someone else, is able to collect or use that product or service for which you’ve paid.

It allows the provider to be sure that the person who is collecting the product or service is the person who is supposed to receive it. It also protects you from unscrupulous persons collecting or using the product or service for which you’ve paid.

How does my receiver collect from the store or office?

Recipients in Jamaica are required to show transaction order number, unique code, and government issued identification to the provider in order to collect any product or service for which you’ve paid.

How long does it take to complete a transaction?

Transactions take just a few minutes from payment to your receiver being able to collect from the vendor. Vendors however, may differ in delivery times and speed of service.

Do I get a receipt from the vendor?

Whenever you do your transaction, an invoice is emailed to you. Vendors are required to provide your receiver with a receipt.

How do refunds work?

Once your receiver collects a product or uses the service of a vendor’s refund policy applies when you make a prepayment to, or a purchase from, a store or office on our platform.

How does Bill Payment work?

Bill Payment is free and easy to use. Just enter your bill details to pay any Jamaican government or company bills including utilities, tuition, hotel, cable, phone, some insurances, hardware supplies and others. Enter your bill details and your bill will be paid within 24 to 48 hours, between Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 5pm EST.

What if I don’t know the price of items?

Ask the vendor for price quotes.

What are your fees and charges?

It is free for users for the moment.

Can I pay with any currency?

If your currency is not United States dollars (USD), it will be converted to USD by a third party (such as PayPal) to pay for products or services.

What is your exchange rate?

The exchange rate from other currencies to United States dollars (USD) is handled by third parties such as PayPal. The cost of products and services from vendors are quoted in Jamaican dollars (JMD) as well as USD, and both currencies are displayed at the checkout as well.

The conversion to Jamaican dollar from USD is handled by MangoErrands. We offer rates that are higher than rates offered for USD cash by most Jamaican banks.

Do you handle shipping and delivery?

Shipping and delivery are handled by your vendor. Discuss with them the options that they offer, and what works for you.

How does Prepayment work?

Prepayment allows you to set a maximum amount that can be spent by your receiver with a vendor in Jamaica. Your receiver is able to spend up to the amount you prepay to the store.

Who is a Recipient

A Recipient is the person in Jamaica that you authorize to collect a product or use a service from a vendor. You name your Recipient at checkout.

How can I talk to a vendor?

Communication is vitally important on this platform. You have access to every product or service provider on the platform. Visit the vendor’s store profile where you will see a “Contact the provider” window.

Enter the information in this window and your vendor will receive your communication and respond. You can contact them with questions, request quotations, provide lists, or have a discussion.
